The Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Certification Program is a new voluntary credential for professionals who design, install, and maintain sustainable landscapes in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Landscape professionals who gain the first level of this new certification will demonstrate skill by required coursework and examination in troubleshooting and maintaining green infrastructure or stormwater best practices an in providing conservation landscaping with native plants. Level 2 CBLPs will go through an intensive sustainable landscape seminar and assessment process for design and installation of conservation landscaping and residential scale stewardship practices also known as stormwater retrofits.

The CBLP Certification Program was developed through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder effort to establish a network of consistently trained conservation-minded landscape professionals in states throughout the Chesapeake Bay Region to be better water quality, wetlands and habitat partners.

This long-term goal of the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council and an action item from the Feb 2013 Collaborative Summit on Protecting Water Quality is finally becoming a reality through a collective impact initiative and the support of many great partners and funders!

Please spread the word – we pilot it this fall in Virginia, DC and Maryland.
