Neighborhood Level Resilience in the City of Hampton
Virginia Tech's Geography department integrated the Collaboratory into the course, Climate Change and Societal Impacts. A team of graduate students studied the complexity of sea level rise and recurrent flooding in the City, and recommended interventions to improve community resilience. The students explored three neighborhoods to identify the varying needs of each study area, highlighted below.
The students met with the community and members of the City's Planning Department, and presented their work at the end of the semester. View their presentation below. Additionally, one of the graduate students has taken an independent study to conduct additional analysis, with the goal of publishing a study in the journal Climatic Change.
