MonJer Toe, Virginia Sea Grant Sponsored Intern
My name is MonJer Toe, and I am from Providence, Rhode Island. I am currently a senior at Norfolk State University, majoring in biology. I joined Wetland Watch because it captured my interest after hearing about it in my plant physiology course. Recently, I conducted research on how the Hibiscus moscheutos tolerates different levels of salt water, which further fueled my curiosity about the local ecosystem in Norfolk. During my time in Norfolk, I noticed a pattern of flooding whenever it rained, which motivated me to learn more about the region's wetlands and their role in flood management.
