Coastal Retreat Network
Coastal Retreat Network
The Coastal Retreat Network is a national community of practice, hosted by Wetlands Watch. It was established as one of the recommendations from the Wetlands Watch led conservation pilot project, to help link climate adaptation professions with one another to tackle difficult issues related to removing people from risk along the coast. The network is composed of many different practitioners—attorneys, policy professionals, tax experts, government staff, land trusts, nonprofit professionals, professors, and many more. By connecting these stakeholders, the Network helps tackle the extremely complex issues related to retreating the built environment from the coast.
The network prioritizes community engagement and education, fostering support for adaptive strategies that enhance the resilience of coastal ecosystems and communities.
Membership in the Coastal Retreat Network is free and includes access to a listserv and quarterly Zoom meetings. Members can learn about ongoing and developing projects in coastal communities, primarily across the U.S., and utilize the forum to seek advice from other professionals, request referrals, and more.
