“Creating Coastal Resilience through Community Engagement” (2019)

Lake Taylor Resiliency Plan

In collaboration with the Elizabeth River Project, we partnered with UVA’s School of Architecture (Phoebe Crisman) and her students to develop a neighborhood-scale resiliency plan for the Lake Taylor community. Three community meetings were held, allowing residents to identify flooding and pollution hotspots, prioritize key community assets, and engage with City officials on upcoming stormwater improvements.

After gaining approval from the City and the neighborhood, the Elizabeth River Project initiated an application to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to implement the proposed resiliency measures. Meanwhile, Wetlands Watch assisted the Civic League in applying for a 30 in 30 Green Grant to support a community clean-up event. Download the final plan below.
