Board Bios

David Pezza, Secretary

I am a native of Rhode Island and have lived in Tidewater for most of my adult life. My wife Julia and I live on the Lafayette River and enjoy the wildlife we see everyday. Our goal is to help Wetlands Watch continue its efforts to integrate a healthy way of life within a vibrant environment. We can see the environment changing as floodwaters are more frequent, shorelines erode, and wetland grasses migrate inland. As an engineer my goal to expand the board’s strength to help the community strive for sustainable alternatives compatible to all life in Tidewater Virginia.

I am a civil engineer who retired in 2010 from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Headquarters, Washington, DC as Deputy Chief of Engineering and Construction. I am a licensed professional engineer in Virginia and was an adjunct professor in civil engineering at Old Dominion University. I earned undergraduate engineering degrees from St. Francis College and Penn State University, and master and doctorate of engineering degrees from Old Dominion University.

My time on the Board of Directors started in February 2020. As a Board member and interested professional, I attended the Chesapeake Bay Landscaping Program training program, passed the exam, and earned its Chesapeake Bay Landscaping Professional credential.
