Josie Shostak, Catch the King Assistant
I grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia fascinated by the world in my backyard creating my own field guide books, held together by glue sticks and tagging along on my father’s master naturalist field trips in elementary school. I fell in love with the coastal environment and knew that environmental science was going to be my future. Throughout college, I have had experience working as a marine mammal researcher and invertebrate scientist. I am excited to return to my hometown after completing dual bachelor degrees in Marine Biology and Environmental & Sustainable Studies at the College of Charleston.
Wetlands Watch offers me the opportunity to combine my passion for environmental conservation, field research, and science communication with the public. I hope to become an environmental photojournalist and activist in my career, and this position allows me to engage the public about sea level rise, inspire involvement for community action, and develop nature-based solutions for our vulnerable coastal areas.
